Early rise in Cadzand

Last November I spent the weekend with my family in Cadzand, a still very liveable coastal town in the Netherlands near the Belgian border. Saturday evening we enjoyed a very appetizing and cosy evening in restaurant Pure C, one of the projects of Dutch chef and personality Sergio Herman.

Some places just have it all. The food was beautiful on the plate and oh so tasty in the mouth. The service was excellent, smooth and easy and most important with a genuine smile. We proceeded with ease through the eight courses and cocktails and wines. Luckily we spent the night in the Strandhotel (Pure C is conveniently located in the same building).

Sleeping near the water has something soothing. And more important waking up early, tiptoeing to the balcony, hearing the sound of and seeing the sea  is simply bliss. It does not take any effort in those circumstances (I’m NOT at all a morning person) to put on my walking shoes and head out to the beach. Zen. Still dark. Making the first footprints in the virgin sand and waiting for the sun to come and say hi.
