Picture postcards from Le Palais
2 June 2014 • A new day, a new cute harbour town to visit. EUROPA 2 drops anchor in front of Le Palais on Belle-Ile. It is the largest French Atlantic Island and situated in Brittany.
We had little time for discovering this small harbour but what we saw we loved, even before the tender was skilfully manoeuvred in between the two jetties. It felt like watching one postcard after the other.
Every morning there is a small market on Place de la République selling vegetables, cheeses, fish, oysters and the typical Breton galettes off course.Locally produced Coeur de boeuf tomatoes
This is a hiking paradise and cycling paradise for nature lovers. On different idyllic locations you can find picnic tables. We did a short walk on the colourful overgrown old city walls and enjoyed delicious galettes in Crêperie La Touline accompanied by a glass of cider. Friendly service and a nice view on the Citadel (designed by the famous Vauban) and the port with its miniature-like ferry. The old rempartsA typical galette as lunch
Strolling through the cute streets we discovered Librairie Liber & Co. Beautiful bookstore and café. They organise lectures and even have a loft for guests. One very special place to enjoy and stay.Bookshop, café and B&B in one: Liber & Co
